Northwest Florida FCA partners with Joe Durant every November to host the FCA Joe Durant Golf Classic. The tournament is located at the beautiful AC Read Golf Course and has consistently been a highlight of the year for both FCA staff and the participants.

The tournament proceeds benefit Northwest Florida FCA by providing funds to host the High School Golf Classic, as well as 6 ministry banquets that provide a platform to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with over 3,000 athletes and coaches every year. The proceeds also provide funds to purchase Bibles to distribute to athletes and coaches that do not have one.

Joe Durant

Pro golfer Joe Durant was born in Pensacola, Florida. At Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, Durant was a three time NAIA All-American and won the NAIA Championship in 1987. He turned professional upon graduating, and has won four events on the PGA TOUR.

Joe took six months away from after the 1991 Web.com Tour season, and got his license to sell insurance. During that time, he also took a job at a golf equipment retail house, filling orders and stacking boxes. Before he returned to PGA TOUR golf, he received a lecture from his wife Tracey about changing his negative outlook on the golf course.

He won the 2001 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic with a score of 324 (-36), and set the tournament record which still stands today. He gave the Chrysler Town & Country Limited that he received for this victory to the Coachella Valley (CA) Youth Center and Boxing Club.
